Art Development Editor
Position Summary: Communicates photo, art and illustration solutions for new and revised titles, ensuring the right resources are in place from illustrators, photo sources and photo researchers to achieve publication plan goals. Ensures authors and external art and design vendors comply with quality standards, and are in line with title profitability.Duties and responsibilities include (but not limited to):•Reports directly to the Fairchild Books Publisher to consult with Acquisition Editors, Development Editors, authors and designers to develop effective art programs and ensure effective integration of art and text manuscript.•Monitors and maintains photo and illustration budgets and schedules.•Assigns and contracts freelance photo researchers and illustrators, evaluating sample art and photo selections with book team.•Provides tools and resources to authors, editors and designers to support efficient and effective art manuscript development, and to meet budget and schedule requirements.•Research photos, prepare art logs and art manuscript, color correct and edit images as needed.•Coordinate quality control of hi-res art to insure smooth production flow and high-quality images in both print and digital products.•Manage and organize digital art assets for archiving.•Monitor length, art counts, and all art elements to meet established title profitability.Bloomsbury has a generous program of benefits including medical, dental, vision, life insurance and short term disability coverage and a 401k program.
