Summary of Position


Oversee communications for National Geographic's Great Energy Challenge project. Work with senior staff on strategy development to expand awareness of GEC content and identify opportunities to better integrate the program with NGS. Develop an active relationship with a larger circle of global energy experts, environmental media, and partner organizations to help drive their engagement with GEC, Direct all aspects of GEC events.

Responsibilities


Work with key GEC team to develop and execute the communication strategy, including how content is distributed to external audiences.

Create and manage communication with larger circle of experts - tapping internal relationships, creating new relationships and leveraging power of GEC projects to align with specific PR opportunities.

Oversee communication strategy as it relates to GEC event participation, including raising public awareness of the events, identifying and recruiting speakers and targeting potential participants.

Drive awareness and engagement in GEC content with key target audiences, including global energy experts, environmental media, and partner organizations. Identify PR opportunities to highlight content and projects funded by GEC.

Serve as point of contact on communications with GEC corporate partner. Work with sponsor to identify PR opportunities and coordinate across all NG platforms.

Minimum Education & Experience


Bachelor's degree in communications or journalism preferred.

At least 7 years PR experience working in energy related field or other relevant environmental issue preferred. Trade association experience a plus with history in leading communications strategy involving multiple partners Experience managing thought-leader events preferred.

Knowledge & Skill Requirements


Experience in promoting digital content related to complex topics desired: ability to manage multiple partners and develop integrated social media strategies.
