Key Activities This list of duties is not exhaustive, and duties may be added, deleted or changed at any time without notice
* Responsible for the over-all management and functionality of the station website, and all other assigned New Media platforms, such as mobile, tablet, social and digital channel applications * Responsible for creating and managing internal systems and processes to keep all digital platforms up-to-date, current, and competitive with local news and information (text and video) 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
* Daily maintenance of station website and implementation of new content and applications
* Thoroughly optimize all pages and sections of the website for search and perform SEO and SEM site maintenance duties
* Track monthly analytics to include 'standard' web, advertiser and video statistics
* Work closely with all departments in a collaborative manner to support their digital product needs, including News, Creative Services and Sales
* Must attend weekly Sales meeting. Also participate in sales calls as needed
* Conceptualize and create new content areas on the website and manage others engaged in similar assignments
* Work with site partners and advertisers to create and maintain web content, including the incorporation, insertion and maintenance of advertiser creative and video commercials into the respective site areas/systems. Some design of advertiser creative may be required
* Troubleshoot any and all problems that may develop with the website
* Managing a staff to include hiring, training, supervising, counseling, developing and evaluating employees; conducts and submits annual performance appraisals in accordance with company policies and federal/state regulations; in conjunction with HR resolves employee concerns
* Responsible for the development and management of the New Media Department budget
* Perform other duties as needed and as directed Education & Experience/Certifications
* May require a BS/BA in news/media or technical discipline or equivalent experience
* Generally, 5+ years experience in news/media field including 2+ years in a supervisory or lead role
* 3+ years of comprehensive website experience required Skills & Abilities
* Proven experience developing web-based content for the reference market
* Demonstrated successful business negotiations, partner management and implementation skills
* Demonstrated success outlining and implementing strategic vision for growth
* Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage collaboration across internal departments and across divisions
* Proven experience managing processes, multiple vendors (domestic and off-shore), resources, and team management
* Experience in project design, scheduling, and project management
* Excellent communication skills including a sensitivity and awareness of international issues
* Demonstrated ability to strive for results while maintaining good relations with internal and external customers
* Must be a multi-tasker who can perform well under deadline pressure and successfully meet deadlines
* Must have outstanding skills in time management and setting priorities
* Must demonstrate openness and capacity to seek new opportunities and adopt new ways of doing things
* Must hold high standards and have the ability to demand high quality and productivity from staff members
* Must exhibit high standards of accuracy and fairness
* Must have strong communication and presentation skills
* Must have proven leadership and organizational skills and be able to function as a team leader and team player
* Must have a track record of coaching, mentoring and fostering staff development
* May manage elements/portions of a budget
* Looking for an experienced leader and effective manager, able to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced newsroom environment
* Must be able to meet deadlines
* Working knowledge of online content management systems (CMS's) and HTML is required
* Working knowledge of additional web design/development applications such as Flash, JavaScript, Adobe Photoshop, and FTP is strongly preferred
