Dairy Management Inc.™ (DMI) has a unique position available, building and supporting consumer communications to build trust and advocacy for a universally known commodity. DMI manages national communications for dairy farmers, promoting milk, cheese and yogurt. In the complex food and nutrition landscape, it is essential that dairy's entire story, from farm to table, is told and heard.

This story - of a dairy farm passed within a family from generation to generation, improving production to get the purest and most nutritious milk, treating the cows and land in responsible and efficient ways, and contributing to as many nutrient-rich meals for Americans as possible - is Where Good Comes From. As Communications Director, you would serve an integral part in helping this story come to life across DMI owned brands, including Dairy Good (, and through partner relationships and communications.

We are looking for someone who knows how to tell a story, how to capture consumers' attention with messaging that resonates, and how to use communications to drive business and meet sales goals. Our ideal candidate can balance being a leader with being a team player; thinks outside the box; understands consumers; and is grounded in the latest in marketing and communications, including digital tools.

-Oversee quality and operational performance of consumer programs, ensuring quality and deadline adherence
-Support Vice President of Consumer Communications in executing tactical plans in communications and media relations including media outreach, message development, event management, etc.
-Assist in content development and community management oversight, helping to shape external communications across social channels
-Bring to life stories that help connect consumers to agriculture and Where Good Comes From by researching industry and 3rd party efforts and communication vehicles
-Foster relationships with third-party influencers (online and offline)
-Work with communicators across the entire organization to identify integration opportunities with the Where Good Comes From platform
-Glean insights from conversation, search and web traffic data to plan website coverage and translate into creating compelling content for relevant audience(s).
-Partner with outside agencies to for support on content and execution as necessary to visualize nd articulate Where Good Comes From.
-Manage relationships with media partners for content development

Education, Experience & Abilities
-8-10 years of experience in communications, including a consumer-audience focus
-Strong business acumen coupled with demonstrated leadership skills
-Good communications and interpersonal skills
-Demonstrated ability with a wide variety of communication tactics including digital communications, media outreach, messaging, press releases, etc.
-Supervisory experience
-Project management experience required, preferably in agricultural or environmental context
-Demonstrated ability to develop strong relationships with customers, peers and subordinates. Must be an advocate and collaborator within an organization
-Excellent project management skills, leadership, ability to work independently
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills
-Ability to build relationships and motivate participation from diverse stakeholders toward common goal
-Ability to undertake research using a variety of sources and find common themes/connections
-Excellent interpersonal skills
-Excellent marketing and sales skills

-Willingness to travel up to 10% of time
