OPERA NEWS seeks enthusiastic, efficient, and detail-oriented editorial assistant. Reporting to the editor in chief, the editorial assistant will provide support in all phases of the publication process of a monthly magazine and its website.

EA will have responsibility for the following:
• Compiling and editing monthly performance listings
• Compiling and editing three annual long-form performance listings
• Reading and editing galleys
• Some fact checking
• Preparing and maintaining payments, forms, schedules, database records, transcriptions and contracts


BA or equivalent educational experience. Editorial experience and/or knowledge of classical music/opera desirable. Experience maintaining social media presence on behalf a company also desirable. Candidate must demonstrate a high degree of proficiency with technology; experience using a website content management system and/or QuarkExpress desirable. Candidate must have excellent organizational and communication skills (both written and verbal); must be detail-oriented; must be proactive, a quick learner, and able to prioritize multiple tasks while meeting deadlines.
