Account Director, USA TODAY Travel Media Group



The Account Director is a detail-oriented, highly organized individual who is responsible for platform meeting revenue goals by delivering advertising solutions to major clients/prospects within the Travel industry. Candidate will have prior digital advertising sales experience (management experience a plus), strong presentation skills and industry contacts. They must be able to professionally, effectively and accurately represent USA TODAY in the marketplace, facilitating brand strength and credibility. Essential functions of the job include strong networking abilities, strong negotiation skills, ability to analyze data quickly, strong strategic ideas, and the ability to work remotely. This position is based in New York, although Los Angeles or San Francisco will be considered.



Responsibilities:



Identifies client needs and uses demographic and market analysis, and knowledge of the client’s business and competition, to deliver effective proposals to clients, producing sales that meet an annual revenue goal.



Negotiates with internal resources and clients on advertising programs to assure that customer satisfaction is achieved and revenue objectives are met.



Using knowledge of the competition and the industry, develops and executes value added strategies that generate business and strengthen USA TODAY’s marketplace position.



Identifies the needs of a client through discussions of their objectives and strategies, and collaborates with client solutions to develop advertising opportunities to meet them. This includes, but is not limited to, planning and participating in special sales event functions that impact revenue, developing advertising prospects, active participation in business organizations and industry groups that lend to the business growth areas.


Develops a high level of competency of USA TODAY’s competitive advertising environment and builds knowledge of the clients’ business.



Identifies opportunities for new advertising strategies and recommends creative ideas that improve USA TODAY’s competitive position and the bottom line.



Represents USA TODAY with knowledge and confidence.


Requirements:



Minimum of bachelor’s degree with a concentration in marketing and/or advertising



Minimum 5 years of advertising sales experience with a proven track record as an outside sales representative (with an ability to showcase revenue success)



Highly experienced digital media sales background, with a unique skill-set: must be creative, collaborative and strategic, with a lean towards creating custom programs, have a strong understanding of the principles of lead generation, and know how to sell value of editorial engagement and audience.



Solid knowledge base of digital media sales solutions, including sponsorship, and display sales.

Strong organizational skills including the ability to facilitate and lead productive meetings with internal staff and clients



Minimum 5 years selling display advertising to national travel advertisers.



Must be willing to travel at least 2 weeks per month.



Strong knowledge of the sales process with working knowledge of Salesforce.com



Ability to translate clients' needs into an effective campaign



Ability to work in a fast paced/deadline driven environment
