Responsibilities
iVillage/NBC Universal is looking for an experienced Senior Food Editor to join our editorial team. The Senior Food Editor should have a deep knowledge of food, be active on social media, have relationships with food writers and bloggers, be a wicked editor, wordsmith and headline writer and have a deep digital skill set.

S/he will:
be responsible for running the food channel and creating daily programming that is fresh, smart, and relevant for busy women and families who want to eat well on a budget
brainstorm, assign, develop and edit articles, blogs and slide shows with a strong voice that are high on service, engagement, “clickiness”, and SEO value.
work with the advertising and marketing teams to develop ideas and programs that extend the brand reach.

write and program weekly food newsletters with clicky subject lines.

work independently to manage the food channel’s editorial calendars, writers and expert contributors.

share iVillage content on social media and be super active on Pinterest.

conduct photo research, produce content in a CMS and SEO-optimize articles.

track performance of the food channel in Omniture and nimbly respond to traffic patterns and metrics.

manage a budget and invoices for the food channel.
Qualifications/Requirements
A bachelor’s degree in English, journalism or a related field

Must have 5+ years of food experience at a top lifestyle website or publication

Must have a rolodex of food writers and bloggers

Must be a social media super star

Must be an organized self-starter

Desired Characteristics
Strong experience with web best-practices, content management systems, HTML, Omniture, Photoshop and SEO is strongly preferred

The ideal candidate will have a passion for food content and a proven track record of sourcing content that fits within a specific editorial voice and aesthetic. S/he should be able to work efficiently in high-paced and high-energy environment.
