If you answered “yes” to those three questions, then you might just be who we’re looking for.Laufer Media is looking for an enthusiastic and talented Photo Editor to head the photo department for our two teen entertainment magazines, Tiger Beat and BOP. Must be an entertainment news junkie who knows and understands the teen market and has an eye for great images. You will need to have a strong editorial perspective and be able to pitch photo-driven story ideas and research to the editorial team on a regular basis. Must work to accommodate both the art department’s photo needs, as well as individual staff writers’ photo needs.Will work with many different photo agencies, publicists and PR contacts to acquire photos of celebrities and gain U.S. rights on large quantities of photos. Will be responsible for keeping our own image database organized and up to date. Must obtain hi-res images for print use, as well as negotiate rates with individual agencies. Will be responsible for image reporting, photo invoices and credit checks. A large part of your day will be spent scouring the latest photo agencies for new images, so if you can’t handle looking at photos of teen celebs for more than 20 minutes, this is probably not the job for you. We’re looking for someone who can find the most engaging images in a crop of hundreds. Having an excellent eye for photo editing is key.The Photo Editor will also be in charge of producing and directing exclusive photo shoots for our magazines, from coordinating talent, studio and photographer to coming up with props and editorial poses.
