Work Experience• At least 5 years experience in production management•Overseas printing experience managing vendors.• Experience in managing production workflows within an illustrated publishing environment.•Highly organized and experienced managing support staff Computer Experience RequirementsPrograms: Expert in Adobe Acrobat Professional, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, Quark Xpress, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint,FTP.Fluency in MS Project, Image Ready, Filemaker.Operating Systems: MS Windows, UNIX, Apple Mac OS.Administrative Responsibilities•Prepare weekly departments progress and performance reports for company CEO •Responsible for Production Department’s daily operation and staff assignments •Participate in monthly company wide management meetings, brainstorm company direction and inter-departmental procedures. •Supervise and prepare department budget, including personnel and equipment needs•Evaluate performance of department’s personnel •Manage all vendors and clients relationships •Create and implement standards and procedures within department Project Management Tasks•Supervise all projects’ progress between departments•Responsible for quality control and provide final approval to all material during each production stage•Vendors negotiation on project cost and terms •Manage all App and eBook project development •Participate in seasonal and individual project launch meeting with Acquisitions, Sales, Accounting and Design departments•Perform project management duties for more complicated, proprietary or high profile projects that require closer attention and skills. •Meet and plan project budget, schedule and scope with Sales and Acquisition Team •Coordinate project flow with overseas prepress and print vendors•Provide technical support and suggestions to design team as needed •Create solutions for projects if behind schedule or approaching budget limit •Coordinate traffic and delivery of proofs to internal or external clients•Ensure that quality of proofs and other components meet company quality standards and approvals. Print Management Duties •Co-ordinate deadlines with freight forwarder to ensure on time deliveries •Provide suggestions and recommend all areas of production and printing techniques. •Supervise, resolve and quality control throughout the complete printing process.•Manage plate changes for multiple languages for international co-editions•Communicate and control foreign edition production management to ensure customer satisfaction and on-time deliveries. The successful candidate will be expected to institute managerial changes to increase accountability and results while maintaining high standards of quality and communication. He/She will be acutely sensitive to the need for organization while at the same time maintaining the ability to multi task, meet deadlines and quickly respond to challenges arising at any point in the process.This is a full time salaried position located in San Rafael California.
