Position Summary:

Sirius XM is seeking a dedicated executive to focus on all aspects of music licensing. The SVP, Music Licensing will cultivate strategic partnerships with music labels and performing rights organizations, in support of Sirius XM’s direct licensing initiative and statutory license activities. The SVP Music Licensing will work closely with Programming and Business Development on new services and areas of expansion, taking a primary role in license negotiations. The SVP Music Licensing will also oversee any rate making proceedings, and manage the operational aspects of music royalties including ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of reports and payments. To be successful in this role, this person will have to work cross functionally with our Finance, Programming, Legal, IT, and Engineering groups. The SVP Music Licensing will be the “go-to” person for all royalty and licensing related questions and should have strong relationships within the music industry, excellent communication skills and executive presence.

Duties and Responsibilities:

•Manage and oversee all aspects of the Company’s music licensing both externally and internally
•Cultivate and maintain key relationships with music labels, performing rights organizations, membership associations and other representatives in the music industry. Domestic and some international travel required
•Negotiate agreements for music royalties with music labels and performing rights organizations
•Oversee details of current licensing agreements and renegotiate new agreements as they come due
•Oversee all operational aspects of payments; work cross functionally with music programming, IT, and Accounting to ensure payments are calculated correctly and delivered on schedule
•Work cross functionally to develop methods to ensure our systems reflect correct information for our current royalty data and develop better ways to increase accuracy of data capture going forward
•Keep executive team informed of all relevant issues related to music licensing and royalty reporting and payments

Requirements and general Skills:

•15-20 years of related experience
•Pre-existing relationships with music publishers, artist management and record labels
•Strong negotiation skills
•Excellent ability to develop relationships across various functions and departments, at all levels, and across a wide range of complex issues
•Great organizational skills and the ability to multi-task and prioritize
•Strong written and oral communication and presentation skills
•Excellent ability to develop relationships across various functions and departments, at all levels, and across a wide range of complex issues
•Ability to work independently; a strong self-motivator and proactive contributor
•Advanced Business or Law degree preferred
