A leading multi-channel media company that provides industry- and market-specific content and connectivity seeks an Editorial Director. Through the publication of magazines, the hosting and management of vertical websites, and the production of in person and online conferences, the company is a leader in the business-to-business markets it serves. This position will be responsible for building a brand, developing strong relationships with key industry influencers, reporting and providing news, research, and in-depth analysis, engaging current and future audience members and supporting the business initiatives of the group and the products and events that comprise it.

Background Preferences:

•Experience in business-to-business writing, content and copyediting
•Experience and interest in creating and curating quality content across a number of channels including a monthly print publication, e-newsletters, websites, whitepapers, webinars, podcasts, video, blogs and social media
•2+ years of supervisory experience
•Comfortable utilizing social media applications for editorial collaboration and marketing
•Experience building a brand via social media
•Easy grasp of internal systems used in production and deployment of print and online products.
•Familiarity with Quark InCopy and MS Office Suite
•BS/BA degree in journalism, communications or other liberal arts

Job Responsibilities:

•Handle the scheduling, interviewing, writing, editing, production and publishing of all news, analysis and opinion on a regular basis (daily in some media, lesser frequency with others) through websites, outbound e-mail newsletters, print magazines, and social media.
•Plan and execute social media communication in order to provide content to current members and attract new members
•Plan, coordinate and host events, webcasts, meet-ups, tweet-ups and other community programs on a regular basis
•Work with Publisher to leverage relationships with professional groups, speakers, sponsors, and other outside companies and organizations for audience development and editorial content.
•Collaborate and coordinate with outside contributor’s regular content to be featured on the websites and in the magazines
•Work with Event Marketing Director to promote and market the events through community media
•Work with Event Manager to plan and execute PR campaigns for all events and programs
•Represent Business Unit professionally in meetings and at trade shows and conferences
•Serve as a key staff member during the staging of all events, performing duties as required in addition to editorial responsibilities
•Work with Publisher to develop and maintain budgets and forecasts for assigned expense lines


•Bachelor’s degree in journalism/communications and/or liberal arts
•5+ years of reporting experience
•Strong organizational and time-management skills, with demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
•Excellent communications skills
•Strong written and interpersonal communication skills
•Good skill level in use of social media
•Ability to work both independently and within a team environment
