Are you a communications professional with a track record of establishing yourself as an indispensable, collaborative and valued business partner?

Dairy Management Inc.™ (DMI) is looking for an individual in this newly created position with the ability to provide strategic communication support on behalf of the dairy promotion program, working closely with a diverse number of partners, critical to the growth of dairy consumption and sales.


Manage day-to-day process of DMI partnership communications including: writing and producing content; integration with other communication areas across DMI; and identifying approval process and securing necessary approvals (e.g., partner, USDA, legal, etc.)

Generate new ideas of how to communicate partner activities in a contemporary, relevant, and collaborative fashion

Support Executive Vice President, Communications and Account Managers in executing tactical plans in communications and traditional and social media relations including outreach, message development, event management, etc.

Develop and manage successful implementation of internal partner communication process to ensure confidential information.

Work with Account Managers to ensure partner update presentations convey proper messaging/packaging of information. Audience includes DMI board and board officers, Senior Leadership Team, States/Regions (S/R) staff, S/R board members, and other internal audiences; fostering relationships with partner’s communication teams to ensure dairy message/framing is relevant.

Work with communicators across the dairy promotion organization to identify integration opportunities that maximize knowledge/facts about the partnership.

Serve as the conduit between Producer Relations to the partner’s Communication team on all (agricultural) media relations. Work with Producer Relations and account manager on partner updates/stats etc. for DMI publications (annual report, press releases, etc.) and dairy industry meeting materials (Annual Meeting, World Dairy Expo etc.)

Education, Experience & Abilities

6-8 years of experience in communications, preferably with a consumer packaged goods/marketing company

Strong business acumen coupled with demonstrated leadership skills

Excellent communications and interpersonal skills

Demonstrated ability with a wide variety of communication tactics including digital communications, media outreach, messaging, press releases, etc.

Supervisory experience

Project management experience required, preferably in agricultural or environmental context

Demonstrated ability to develop strong relationships with customers, peers and subordinates. Must be proactive and a strong collaborator within an organization.
Excellent project management skills, leadership, ability to work independently

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ability to build relationships and motivate participation from diverse stakeholders toward common goal

Ability to undertake research using a variety of sources and find common themes/connections

Excellent marketing and sales skills

Willingness to travel up to 20% of time. The position is based in Rosemont, IL and travels to partner’s corporate headquarters when necessary.
