Sr. Specialist, Program Communications

World Wildlife Fund (WWF), the world’s leading conservation organization, seeks a Program Communications Sr. Specialist to oversee the execution of the WWF-US Markets communications strategy that strives to get C-Suite executives to publicly lead on sustainability and position WWF-US as an authority on creating a 21st century sustainable business model. The primary goal of the Markets program is to work with companies to improve the production of the commodities with the most significant impact on the places and species WWF seeks to protect. The work of this position helps drive the overall success of WWF’s Markets Division, which works to ensure our commodity footprint is in step with a living planet. This person reports to the Program Communications Team’s Deputy Director for Markets and is based in Washington, DC.
I.Major Duties and Responsibilities
1.Creates and manages a communications think tank and serves a day-to-day contact for communications staff at partner companies (e.g., schedules monthly meetings, creates discussion agendas, identifies opportunities for collaboration and compiles/disseminates weekly digest).
2.Develops content for and oversees final production of infographics, videos, and case studies and other collateral used in commodity risk series, a monthly examination of supply chain risk for each of WWF’s priority commodities.
3.Manages all aspects related to events associated with this strategy, including an annual awards dinner and events to highlight challenges/develop solutions related to sustainable business (e.g., promotes videos developed at/for the events, documents and promotes the ideas and concepts that emerge from the events, develops programs and registration forms, solicits nominations, and selects venues).
4.Identifies additional strategic communications opportunities that will help drive the overall success of WWF’s Markets Division.
5.Anticipates communication conflicts, as well as risk to our reputation and brand, through our work with WWF program teams and engagement with external stakeholders. Mitigates these risks by coordinating with key audiences, providing a proven step-wise approach to problem solving.
6.Coordinates all aspects of video series with corporate leaders (e.g., coordinates schedules of leaders, develops trip logistics, identifies story themes, prepares talking points, secures visuals and graphics for videos, and promotes videos online and in print).
7.Serves as day-to-day contact on partnership with communications staff at entity(ies) WWF works with to create and implement quarterly learning series.
8.Provides communications support to CEO Council created by program staff.
9.Oversees consultants hired to write reports, conduct research that quantifies the impact to net profits and shareholder value of resource scarcity, develop tools to quantify costs and calculate savings available through cost avoidance, and model scenarios of how resource risk could impact supply chains by focusing on scarcity and price volatility of commodities tied to food production.
10.Serves as the liaison between program staff and the Marketing and Communications Division teams to implement all tactics associated with this strategy.
11.Provides quarterly updates to the Senior Director of Program Communications on progress being made in reaching each communications goal within the strategy for which she/his is responsible.
12.Performs other duties as assigned.
1. Internal: Interacts frequently with key program staff, field programs and the entire Marketing and Communications Division to execute program communications strategy.
2. External: Interacts with agencies and research organizations, partner organizations and consultants as necessary. Maintains regular contact with representatives from colleague organizations, WWF International, WWF national organizations and professional networks.

IV. Minimum Requirements:
1.Education/Experience: A bachelor’s degree or equivalent is required. A business degree is preferred. Position requires at least 6 to 8 years of program or other professional experience, preferably with an agency or corporation that specializes in business-related communications and/or marketing. Must demonstrate success in conceptualizing, developing, implementing and managing communications strategies that support an entity’s goals. Experience with mission-oriented, strategic communications or brand marketing, and success as a creative and effective communicator is essential.
2.Skills and Abilities:
•Creative and strategic thinker.
•Tech savvy, with experience in producing communications materials for a variety of channels, including digital, multimedia and in-person/live events.
•Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) that can be used internally and externally to, among other things, explain the value of strategic communications and address issues and concerns related to the process of developing and executing communications strategies.
•Strong project management and event planning skills.
•Strong understanding of business fundamentals and knowledge of the corporate sustainability space.
•Proven ability to persuade others towards an idea or goal.
•Self-motivated and adaptable.
•Commitment to mission, goals and values of WWF.
