XO Group Inc. - a life-stage media and technology company including The Knot, The Nest, and The Bump brands -seeks an outstanding, self-motivated, reliable and resourceful Director of E-Commerce. This person will be responsible for the successful operation of the XO Group US web business, working closely with the XO Group Editorial and Creative staff, to develop and implement strategies to deliver profitable growth based on new customer acquisition and customer retention programs. In addition to the direct responsibility for all aspects of the XO B2C web business.

Must have the ability to juggle multiple projects and staying calm and collected under pressure must be part of your DNA. You thrive on being part of a collaborative team and will never say the words "It's not my job"!

Major Responsibilities

-Managing Operations and Product
-Develop and implement effective strategies to grow sales and profit.
-Create and manage the budgeted P&L for web including advertising and agency investments, payroll and other operating expenses.
-Source and merchandise product that will delight the XO shopper and be on brand. Manage product margins and turn.
-Produce accurate, timely management information on web performance.
-Ensure all operational aspects of E-Commerce are tightly managed and effective, to ensure the delivery of an exceptional customer experience.
-Oversees the day-to-day e-commerce operations, maintenance, and performance measurement of the company B2C web.


Technical Management

-Evaluate, recommend and implement internal technical improvements and also advise when to engage external partners to enable the company to deliver industry leading sales growth and customer acquisition by best in class digital execution.
-Maximizes web usability and engagement.
-Ensure the website is fully functional, compelling and competitive to maintain XO Group brand digital leadership in weddings in the US.
-Work with marketing and design to ensure content on-line is engaging, brand appropriate, and inspires loyalty and deeper online customer relationships.
-Engages in ongoing competitor analysis and trends to ensure effective and efficient site experiences.

Managing People

-Ensure the E-Commerce teams have clear goals and objectives, are inspired to do well and have a working environment that encourages personal growth and satisfaction.
-Work engagingly across business functions to foster strong bonds and team
-Actively manage staffing schedules to allow the business to manage peaks of activity in a dynamic and efficient way.
-Acts as a liaison to internal teams and 3rd party vendors for development and maintenance of the web site.
-Works across departments to define web roadmap and strategies.
-Works with the Executive Management Team to define the corporate e-commerce strategy

Desired Skills and Experience

-Bachelor's Degree required; MBA or Masters preferred--preferably in the content area of marketing, computer science or a related field.
-10 years managerial experience
-5-7 years of e-commerce experience
-Business planning and e-commerce strategy development
-E-commerce business models and direct to consumer products industry (trends, competitors, distribution channels, customer base, promotion, and products)
-Web technologies, web programming languages, web page design/layout, SEO and web site performance measurement
-Proven ability to develop/implement a successful e-commerce strategy in the consumer product industry.
-Superior verbal and written communication skills; superior presentation skills
-Superior inter-personal skills with all levels including executive management
-Conceptual & analytical thinking; vision; leadership & management; prioritization; collaboration; decision-making; negotiation; problem-solving; tactical execution; product & market knowledge; functional & computer proficiency...
-Gift or wedding experience ideal but not essential.
