Account Executive - Media Relations
Job Title: Account Executive - Media Relations - Los AngelesReports to: Director of Media RelationsOpportunity to join the media relations team in the Los Angeles office of one of the art world's most recognized strategic communications and marketing firms.PRIMARY FUNCTION/POSITION SUMMARY:Account Executive supports and executes media relations campaigns for FITZ & CO's network of international art-world clients. Account Executive is to implement FITZ & CO's systems and processes for all aspects of his/her work.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (Duties include but are not limited to the following):-Support Directors of Media Relations on accounts.-Execute media relations campaigns for major international art world clients.-Pitch features, reviews, and news stories to newspapers, magazines, online media, broadcast media, in local, national, and international markets with a particular emphasis on Los Angeles-based and West Coast media.-Write media releases and media materials. -Proofread media releases and other PR materials.-Organize media events.-Update database and mailing lists of media and art world contacts. Research new media contacts, grow relationships between FITZ & CO and key media with a particular emphasis on Los Angeles-based and West Coast media.-Edit images using Photoshop. Organize images and captions.-Fulfill photography requests from media.-Recruit, train and manage interns.-Use social media as directed by Marketing team.KEY RELATIONSHIPS:-Media Relations Team.-Current clients: reporting, communicating, arranging meetings. Attending select client meetings.-Media: Knowledge of Los Angeles media is essential; knowledge of national and international art world media preferred. Editors of major magazines, newspapers, and online media. Critics and writers for major magazines, newspapers, and online media. Producers and hosts of broadcast TV and radio. All media covering arts, culture, fashion, lifestyle, business, and finance.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:-Trains new members of team.-Supervises interns. WORKING CONDITIONS:-Work is performed primarily in the FITZ & CO Los Angeles office, with travel as required. -Account Executive is required to be available often before and after company's normal office hours (M-F, 10-6), and on weekends.-Must adopt and make daily use of office systems such as time tracking (Bill4Time) and CRM (SalesForce). REQUIREMENTS:-College graduate with 3-5 years of professional experience in public relations, communications, and fine arts, preferably at a PR agency.-Proven track record of delivering print, broadcast and online media results.-Independent self-starter; ambitious hard-worker.-In-depth knowledge of and relationships with the media, specifically art-world and cultural media and key writers, editors, producers.-Existing art-world media contacts with a particular emphasis on Los Angeles-based and West Coast media.-Strong written and verbal communications skills.-Excellent organizational skills.-Mac-savvy.-Technical skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Photoshop, Powerpoint, Vocus.-Salesforce.com, and Bill4Time.-Previous experience with HTML templates and creating bulk email distributions.-Knowledge of social media marketing.-Foreign language skills a plus.Send cover letter and resume to email@example.comNo phone calls please.Send cover letter and resume to firstname.lastname@example.orgNo phone calls please.
