To effectively connect with those audiences, we need a strong, credible, recognizable brand and excellent communications.
KIPP's Marketing Team is responsible for managing KIPP's brand and sharing KIPP's story through authentic and compelling communications. KIPP communications span a wide range of vehicles - from data-based white papers and our annual report to inspiring profiles of students and teachers on our blog, to web copy and brochures detailing specific elements of KIPP's approach and programs. The Senior Marketing Communications Manager's main responsibilities will be to 1) develop strategic communications narratives for the KIPP Foundation; 2) manage, write, and edit marketing communications; and 3) manage KIPP's verbal brand identity, ensuring that current and consistent language is used throughout KIPP communications developed throughout the KIPP network.
The Senior Marketing Communications Manager will report to the Director of Marketing in the Office of the CEO, and will work closely with the Online Marketing Manager and the Senior Manager of Creative Services. There will also be significant collaboration with the Development Team, the KIPP School Leadership Programs team, the Research, Design & Innovation Team and key individuals in KIPP regions and KIPP schools.
This is a full-time, exempt position based in New York, San Francisco, Washington, DC, or Chicago.

Develop strategic communications narratives:
*Lead the development of KIPP narratives that explain new data or establish new points of view. (For example: KIPP's Annual Report Card, and College Completion Report.) Development of narratives will entail engaging various KIPP stakeholders, analyzing relevant data and leading collective problem solving among multiple KIPP stakeholders. The end deliverables will be narratives that are articulate, compelling and reflect the synthesis of analysis and multiple stakeholders' viewpoints.
*Manage market research projects with key audiences to gain insights into KIPP's brand perception and awareness levels.

Manage, write, and edit marketing communications:
*Contribute to the development of key messages as elements of larger overall campaigns to reach talent, funders, students and parents.
*Manage an editorial/communications calendar that coordinates messaging across all major vehicles at the KIPP Foundation. Advise individuals across the KIPP Foundation and KIPP network regarding which messages should be integrated and when for various communications vehicles.
*Develop, write, and edit communications materials (blog posts, web copy, emails, presentations, one-pagers, brochures) for external audiences (potential teachers, funders, and general public) and internal audiences (KIPP teachers, school leaders, students).
*Work with Foundation teams to support their team's specific communications needs - provide strategic and tactical guidance, work with content owners to review fact base and help problem solve as it relates to messaging and communications.

Manage KIPP's verbal brand identity, ensuring that current and consistent language is used throughout KIPP communications developed throughout the KIPP network:
*Work closely with the Senior Manager of Creative Services and Online Marketing Manager to ensure that all marketing and communications materials are consistent with KIPP's culture, brand and voice.
*Champion and evangelize KIPP verbal brand guidelines within the KIPP Foundation and KIPP Network.
*Manage the development of useful on-brand resources that encourage brand consistency. Deliver them through forums that will ensure everyone is aware of, and has access to the appropriate tools.
*Build, cultivate and manage a circle of consultants and contractors who have specific skills we can draw on to create marketing materials - writers, copyeditors and ad agencies.

*Passionate about working in the education space and committed to the belief that all students can learn
*Bachelor's Degree in Business, Communications, Marketing, or relevant field experience required
*Minimum 8 years relevant marketing experience, with progressive responsibility
*Outstanding writing and editing skills demonstrating a strong command of the English language, flawless grammar, usage, and punctuation, tremendous attention to detail, and experience writing specifically for the web
*Strong project and process management skills with the ability to drive communications projects from inception to completion
*Ability to think critically and creatively
*Excellent stakeholder management skills, including the interpersonal, diplomatic, and communication skills necessary to develop successful working relationships with diverse members of the KIPP community
*Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment; Demonstrated success working in a collaborative, cross-functional environment and matrixed organization.
*Ability to travel on occasion for national events, training of school marketing staff, and other projects as needed
*Mastery of Microsoft Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint and Word)
*Sense of humor, tenacity, confidence, great team player
*Ability to model KIPP's values at all times
