An exciting new opportunity is available in our Young Readers division for a Digital Associate Publicist/Publicist! This position is brand new and will allow the ideal candidate to work in the groundbreaking area of Intellectual Property and be on the forefront of making these books into bestsellers.

The Digital Associate Publicist/Publicist will work on growing Penguin Young Readers Group media coverage in the blogosphere by fostering relationships with bloggers who cover key genres (YA, mystery, romance, sci-fi, etc.). This position will also focus on building media campaigns for PYRG's growing number of IP (intellectual property) titles.


Specifically, the Digital Associate Publicist/Publicist:
1.Fosters relationships with bloggers who cover key genres (YA, mystery, romance, sci-fi, middle grade, etc.).
2.Pitches Penguin's entire YA and Middle Grade lists to key bloggers seasonally.
3.Secures blog reviews and author interviews for Penguin's YA and Middle Grade titles.
4.Organizes blog tours for select authors.
5.Drafts pitch letters, author Q&As and other press materials for select IP projects.
6.Creates and executes media campaigns targeting blogs, online, print and radio outlets for IP titles.
7.Researches and fosters relationships with media that covers digital book products and assists in outreach to these contacts.
8.Works closely with publishers/editor, fellow publicists and social media marketing team.
9.Cultivates and maintains author relationships.

-You have a minimum of 2+ years publicity experience, preferably in book publicity.
-Your pitching techniques are strong and you have a proven ability to generate creative hook ideas.
-Your written and oral communication skills are top notch.
-You have a proven ability to work within a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.
-You have strong organizational skills and are detail-oriented.
-You are proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel; SAP is a plus.
-You have an interest in children's publishing.
-An ability to travel less than 5% of the year via airplane, train or automobile.
