The Conference & Events Managers is responsible for more than 50 academic and library conferences annually. Working closely with US and UK marketing teams, he/she communicates deadlines, executes detailed planning of pre-and post-conference tasks and manages a budget. We are seeking someone with impeccable organizational skills who can handle a very busy schedule without missing a deadline or exceeding budgets. This position requires an excellent communicator who can work well under pressure while liaising in a professional and positive manner with different teams.
Requirements Major Responsibilities:

• Budget forecasting and day-to-day management of a complex schedule
• Scheduling, booking, and maintaining accurate paperwork for more than 55 conferences annually
• Clear and effective communication of procedures, policies and deadlines to global stakeholders
• Researching and negotiating with conference organizers to secure best booth locations
• Reviewing and signing off on contracts with third parties
• Playing a leadership role in training new staff, advising on policies, and ensuring that everyone is aware of, and adheres to standard practices
• Packing and shipping books, supplies, and promotional materials and unpacking returned materials post-conference

Required Skills / Knowledge:

• Experience with forecasting and managing a budget
• Knowledge of Excel
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills
• Ability to negotiate with third parties and sign off on agreements
• Extremely detail oriented and able to keep accurate records
• Ability to communicate professionally and consistently with multiples teams
• Must be able to pack and unpack boxes; some lifting

Experience Needed:

• Conference & Events experience required
• Publishing experience preferred but will consider anyone with event experience
• Knowledge of Excel and Microsoft Office applications required
• Experience with planning and managing a budget


Educational Background Required:

• Bachelor’s Degree or other related field or equivalent work experience.
