Position Overview:
This temporary position is offered as a five month backfill position for Lonely Planet’s Special Markets Sales Associate.

The successful candidate will assist in achieving monthly sales budgets for Special Markets accounts, working closely with the Sales Department Manager and Special Markets Sales Associate to maintain long and short term strategies for key accounts and territories. S/he will also assist in the achievement of sales targets with current partners, as well as be outward facing to create more business through the non-traditional book channels. Daily tasks include order entry, account communication, and report generation.

Responsibilities:
• Learning SAP within our environment
• Entering orders, credits and debit memos accurately and quickly for both national accounts and smaller, independent accounts
• Ongoing review of inventory levels & incoming shipments
• Ability to run and review Sales Reports
• Knowledge of Lonely Planet title list, special markets accounts, discounts, and credit policies
• Work with our Finance Department to resolve account issues
• Customer service, handling phone orders, inquiries and resolving problems for Special Market accounts
• Updating and maintaining special markets customer database, email, and newsletter distribution lists
• Assisting with organization and proofing of catalog and order form and distribution of seasonal catalog mailings

Skills and experience:
• Bookstore or Publishing industry experience preferred but not mandatory
• Strong organizational skills and acute attention to detail
• Excellent customer service skills
• Proven sales success and a desire to sell Lonely Planet guide, language, and trade books
• Ability to prospect for, develop, and close multiple leads and deals via phone and email
• Ability to prioritize and multi-task
• Good verbal and written communication skills
