Express, a free daily newspaper published by the Washington Post Co., is looking for an innovative news editor to help prioritize, condense and aggregate a high volume of news content into a vibrant daily news package that captures not just what’s most important among the day's developments but also what’s inherently most interesting to readers.The right person for this job will be a news junkie with sound editorial judgment. You'll need to cut and rewrite stories from a variety of sources and write clever, accurate headlines to fit Express' format and tone. You'll be cool under deadline pressure, and able to quickly chop stories in half and dig up related sidebar elements, quotes and fact boxes that surprise, entertain and inform.Three to five years of editing experience in either a print or online news environment is preferred. Mastery of AP style and at least some InDesign experience would be ideal.
