Position Summary

Overall team is made up of market specialists who purchase MediaVest client business within assigned markets. This position requires communication within department and liaison with planning teams regarding direct execution and other elements related to the buys. Responsible for complete management of all day to day operations of client’s national television business as well as communication of future media strategies to the clients. Critical to this position is the effective guidance of mid level managers as well as thorough communication of strategies and issues to both client management and MediaVest Strategy managers.


Includes managing the process steps related to buy execution including managing local market buying specifications, managing negotiation questions/revisions, and final cross check of buys vs. specification and issue to planning team/client.

Troubleshoot all pertinent day to day operations issues

Instill MediaVest values in all team members

Forge relationships with upper management of networks/media partners

Negotiate Agency Upfront deals

Seek out relevant media opportunities for client(s) and present clear arguments for or against them

Oversee overall ownership of client for all dayparts/areas

Have firm grasp on marketplace and issues which would impact it

Spearhead research projects which will enhance client’s knowledge of media impact

Apply media expertise to further enhance/promote virtues of SMG/MediaVest


Ability to lead a team focused on day to day operations as well as future endeavors

Knowledge and years in business should be over 7 years

Superior presentation skills

Strong excel and buying systems knowledge (Mediabank preferred

Strong communication skills (verbal and written)

Ability to multi task and quickly troubleshoot changes across multiple markets

Strong local buying or planning background with knowledge of Nielsen ratings and Arbitron ratings measurement

Superior negotiating skills

Demonstrates ability to think clearly under pressure and instill calm confidence in group

Strong analytical abilities

Strong quantitative skills, including analytical abilities and math proficiency

Ability to apply research to solve client problems

Technical proficiency, particularly with media systems and MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint
