The Times Square Alliance is seeking a smart, creative self-starter to join its Communications Department. The candidate must possess excellent writing and communications skills, experience in project management, digital strategy, content creation and media and public relations. The candidate will create, author, and coordinate key components of our communication vehicles reporting to the Director of Communications.

The candidate will help to drive the day to day functions of the Communications Group. The Communications Department oversees the organization's graphic design, digital, social media, internal & external communications, crisis communications, marketing promotions and strategic PR for major programming initiatives such as Times Square Arts, New Year's Eve, Summer Solstice & Taste of Times Square. Responsibilities include:

•Drafting and providing copy for website and releases / press advisories
•Developing relationships with local and national media; pitching and proactively placing stories to further a positive image of Times Square, particularly with travel/tourism, real estate, economic development, arts/culture & NYC metro reporters
•Daily monitoring of print media for relevant materials and clippings
•Managing all press related pages on the Times Square website, posting releases, linking to relevant press, and creating and updating resources for press
•Managing press and staffing Alliance events, including onsite check-in, set up, interviews with Alliance principles, and follow-up
•Generating, editing and proofing written materials
•Maintaining photo/video digital library
•Conceptual brainstorming, research, planning and copy creation/messaging for programs and events
•Represents the Alliance at local civic events and meetings

•Excellent written and verbal communication skills
•Experience in managing media relations and PR
•Enthusiasm and initiative
•Understanding of the New York City civic & political landscape
•Self-starter who works well independently and with a team
•Outlook, Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, Photoshop, PowerPoint, Excel. Illustrator & video editing software a plus
•Knowledge of video editing and/or photography a plus
•Strong administrative and organizational skills; attention to detail
