Your tasks
We are looking for a SpringerOpen Journal Manager to join the SpringerOpen team. This position will encompass nearly all aspects of SpringerOpen journal management:
?Facilitating the creation of new fully open access journals in close cooperation with editor colleagues
?Monitoring the day-to-day management and administration of existing journals together with BioMed Central?s (BMC) services team
?Advocating for SpringerOpen internally and externally.

The role will have a geographic focus on North and Latin America.

Responsibilities
- Central point of contact for SpringerOpen
- Consult Springer Editorial on new OA (Open Access) journal ideas. Launch journals and work closely with Marketing and Corporate Communications
- Liaise, transfer information and manage expectations between Springer Editorial and BMC services
- Implement, manage and maintain OA journals in SpringerOpen workflow
- Oversee journal development (article submissions, abstracting & indexing) and follow-up with Editorial
- Own responsibility for SpringerOpen portal as well as journal pages at SpringerOpen platform
- Be prepared to discuss SpringerOpen in public
- Monitor growing number of open access policies, mandates and funds and communicate to Springer editors

Our requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of journal publishing experience
- Experience working / solving problems autonomously
- Bachelors Degree required, Masters or graduate publishing courses preferred
- Must have knowledge and understanding of the open access market (stakeholders, developments, strategic impact), alternatively high motivation to quickly gain comprehensive understanding
- Must have strong communication skills
- Excellent track record in project leadership
- Strong analytical as well as creative skills to be able to develop new product line and workflow
- Substantial work experience and/or ability to manage expectations and gain acceptance from stakeholders
- Strong communicator to liaise between Springer Editorial and BMC services
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize
- Drive and enthusiasm to move SpringerOpen forward together with Editorial
- Interest in developing OA journals in Latin America
