We are currently seeking a Director of Public Relations, Health, Clinical Affairs & Research to join our Office of Communications and Marketing. With a primary focus on Clinical Affairs and Research, you will be charged with leading the development and implementation of strategic public relations programs that highlight the medicine, health and research activities of the institution in support of the Medical Center's mission and vision to be a world-class, patient-centered, integrated academic medical center. You will also have daily interaction with trade, local, national and international health, medical, consumer and science print, broadcast and online media; and will be responsible for developing relationships with key health, medicine and science journalists; and for keeping abreast of current issues in health, medicine and medical research. Additionally, you may represent the Senior Vice President for Communications and Senior Director for Communications at internal and external meetings; and will supervise and manage a staff of three to five professionals.

Position requires a Bachelor's degree and 10 or more years of PR experience within an academic medical center, hospital or agency. You must also have a proven track record of accomplishment in creating and implementing strategic external communications plans, as well as in-depth knowledge of the local and national PR landscape, healthcare delivery system and current issues in health, medicine and medical research. The ability to identify news worthiness of issues, to gauge appropriates of topics for coverage in specific media topics and to translate complex healthcare information for lay audience will be essential. Also key, will be your ability to expand and build upon relationships with reporters strategically important to issues of interest to academic medical centers. Management experience is also required.
