Rodale is currently seeking an experienced, motivated and talented Art Director to join Prevention magazine's award winning art team and to contribute his/her skills to developing the overall vision for the brand in the magazine format. This position is a unique opportunity to be hands on with the innovative content that has established Prevention as the world's leading health and fitness publication. The candidate will be a self starter, have a collaborative work style, positive attitude and the ability to thrive in a fast paced environment. The position is located in Emmaus, PA.

Responsibilities include:

-Working closely with the Creative Director, Prevention Brand, designing features, departments and service packages, contributing towards the continued modernization and evolution of the Prevention brand.
-Assist the creative team in continuously evolving the magazine's design, planning and executing feature layouts, assigning illustration and working with the production and pre-press staffs
-Concept ideas and visuals for all sections of the book, with focus on particular areas as directed by Creative Director.
-Working collaboratively with editors and outside contributors in order to ensure full understanding and accurate representation of story ideas and information
-Create exciting info-graphics, charts, logos, small illustrations, and visual explanations.
-Effectively implement strong type sensibility, excellent aptitude for visual story telling as well as service packaging and a passion for what is going on within the design world.
-Occasional art direction of special editions, additional publications, collateral materials as needed.


-Minimum five years magazine experience
-Adherence to tight budget and firm schedules a must
-A passion and experience in visualizing and art directing shoots, including food shoots as necessary.
-Great attention to detail, with the ability to juggle multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
-An ability to collaborate with Creative Director, design staff and a team of photo editors and editors as well as to be a self starter in getting projects off the ground and taking initial concepts forward to a highly polished product.
-An enthusiasm for, and connections with, an extensive list of illustrators and photographers.
-An excellent knowledge of the key Adobe CS software and content management [K4] set up.
