Salary Description:

The Associate Photo Editor conceptualizes art concepts for the magazine and arranges/produces and executes photo shoots. This position handles most of the food shoots plus most crafting shoots. The Associate Photo Editor enters shoot information into the Creative Library and uploads images for editorial use. In addition, this position:
· Codes bills for payments.
· Sends out contracts and schedules to photographers.
· Negotiates fees for all aspects of shoots.
· Edits film and looks for new talent.
· Oversees logging in and returning of film.
· Manage interns.
· Performs prop styling. Edits and directs videos.

The position will ideally be based in our Northampton, Massachusetts editorial offices, but may also be based in New York, depending on the candidate.

Essential Job Functions

50% - Produces shoots/negotiates fees and sends out contracts/styling shoots
25% - Conceptualizes and directs art for stories
15% - Enters shoot information into the creative library and uploads photos for editorial use
10% - Handles related bills and oversees management of film

Minimum Qualifications:
All must be met to be considered.

Bachelor's degree in Photography, Graphic Design or equivalent training and/or experience.

Five to six years experience with a photo dept at a large consumer magazine.
Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Must possess an excellent photographic eye
Must possess photographer/stylist/studio contacts
Good organization skills with ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects
Must be a self-starter
Good creative skills
Good communication skills
Ability to work in a team-oriented environment
Ability to meet deadlines
