Your tasks
Under supervision of the Senior Editor, the Editorial Assistant manages the development and workflow of assigned titles from signed contract to publication. Ensures that content, length, illustration program, and format are appropriate for the project. Responsible for a minimum of two quarterly journals. Specific responsibilities include:

?Manages development of journals from signed contract to handover of final manuscript, working with Senior Editor, Production Editors, Editors-in-Chief, and Editorial Director to ensure that schedules and journal program requirements are met, title content is as planned for market, and high editorial standards are achieved.
?Approximately 5%-10% travel as well as strong initiative and independent functioning.
?Works with Editors-in-Chief to finalize content and develop manuscript format.
?Develops yearly Publishing Plans to improve journal content and exceed guidelines.
?Schedules twice-yearly editorial meetings to discuss and evaluate content requirements.
?Maintain international Editorial Boards.
?Keep JFlow and Springer.com accurate and up-to-date.
?Sends invitations; conflict of interest statements; and manuscript and artwork guidelines to Editors-in-Chief, Section Editors, and Authors. Ensures all required forms are signed, completed, and returned by Authors.
?Works with Authors to ensure dates are met.
?Works with Editor-in-Chief to secure late manuscripts, or when a manuscript cannot be procured, work with Editor-in-Chief to develop alternate plans for completing an issue per journal plan.
?Process all manuscripts through iThenticate to evaluate papers for plagiarism.
?Assesses digital art to ensure that it meets criteria for correct resolution and format.
?Delivers final manuscript to Production Editor via Editorial Manager.
?Keeps detailed records for each project, and the status of each article as it moves through the commissioning stage to handover to production.
?Works on special projects as needed for the department.
?Performs related duties as required.

Our requirements
?Bachelor?s degree required.
?Must be well organized and attentive to detail, with strong communication skills (both verbal and written).
?Must be proficient in MS Word and Excel.
?Must be able to manage several projects at once and set/reset priorities as necessary.
