Business Development Manager - National Journal

With its smart, substantive, nonpartisan viewpoint, National Journal has a standing meeting with the decision-making class, reaching key audiences on Capitol Hill, the White House, and with the influential private sector. We are currently seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to join our dynamic and growing Membership team. The Business Development Manager will have specific responsibility for building the client base for the National Journal Group. He/she will work closely with the Director of Sales to identify a list of targeted prospects, develop and deliver marketing presentations and close new clients. This is a consultative sales role that requires an understanding of current political and policy issues, as well as the ability to diagnose and address the information needs of prospective clients. Successful candidates will have a background in sales, account management, fundraising, or communications.Responsibilities Include:
Develop and execute strategy for converting current National Journal subscribers to an integrated platform as well as increasing the overall National Journal client base Conduct marketing presentations and close business to deliver on monthly and quarterly sales targets Work collaboratively to provide market feedback to tailor and refine the product Effectively articulate the value proposition and sell a premium service to senior-level executives Independently manage sales process mechanics (e.g. pipeline management and proper follow-up to prospects) to maximize sales cycle effectivenessQualifications of the Ideal Candidate: 3 + years of sales or account management experience with a proven track record of success Experience in consultative selling (membership and media sales a plus) Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with colleagues and clients Demonstrated ability to sell ideas to senior management or key customers Excellent work ethic and self-starter Strong academic record from a leading college or universityCore Attributes: Force of Ideas - At the center of Atlantic Media work are the ideas within our writing.
