Chicago Public Media is seeking a dynamic National Account Executive to help lead its growing corporate sponsorship team. This role will represent WBEZ Chicago -- one of the most well-known respected stations in public media -- selling corporate sponsorship to companies looking to reach leaders in the Chicago region.

As a National Account Executive you will sell access to WBEZ’s highly educated, civically engaged audience of opinion leaders and decision makers. We’re looking for a dynamic sales executive who will thrive in our innovative culture and energized by our growing media platforms. This National Account Executive role will both manage a book of existing business and will be expected to strategically prospect and close new business in line with the expectations of the station’s growth for WBEZ Chicago and the show Sound Opinions. In addition, the National Account Executive will work with our nationally distributed show Sound Opinions to build distribution in the top 20 metro markets.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare and present sponsorship opportunities to prospects and existing clients
  • Prospect new leads and make high level corporate and agency sales calls to Marketing
  • Directors and Media Directors
  • Propose on-air, web, event and multiplatform sponsorship solutions for current and potential clients
  • Engage agency and direct client decision-makers at all levels
  • Manage clients and pipeline in SalesForce™
  • Accurately forecast revenue growth
  • Achieve monthly, quarterly and annual sales goals
  • Attend client lunches/dinners and community outreach initiatives
  • Work with our traffic coordinator to attain on-air and web copy approval
  • Stay abreast of market trends and competitive activity in commercial and public radio and online media sales

Required qualifications:

  • Excellent understanding of agency dynamics and campaign buying and planning
  • Superior communication and presentation skills, both in person and over the phone as well as proven ability to do consultative selling
  • Demonstrated relationships with marketing and agency decision-makers
  • A track record of professional, hard-working and results-driven performance
  • Experience managing contacts with CRM e.g. SalesForce™ preferred
  • Proficient in current versions MS Office including Excel and PowerPoint
  • BA/BS degree preferred. Advanced degree a plus
  • The ability to travel locally and nationally as needed
  • Min 3+ years’ experience calling on advertising agencies and/or direct clients
  • The ability to work in a collaborative environment, partnering with different teams to achieve goals
