The Amazon Web Services (AWS) team at Amazon.com is seeking a talented and passionate senior user experience designer to join our growing team. This senior designer will have a significant impact on our business as they take a leadership role in setting the design direction for AWS and direct design projects in support of our growing base of cutting edge products. The designer will work collaboratively with engineers, product managers, executives, and other designers, leading design throughout the planning and development lifecycle.

  • At least 8 years of experience as a user experience designer, interaction designer, user interface designer, information architect, or similar role.
  • An online portfolio or samples of work demonstrating related experience
  • Fluency in best practices for web-based information architecture and design, user-centered design process, as well as strong knowledge of usability principles and techniques.
  • Familiarity with the technical considerations needed when designing for dynamic AJAX-based web 2.0 applications. Demonstrable experience designing interactive AJAX apps.
  • Visual design expertise demonstrated through mockups and style guides.
  • Experience with schedule management.
  • Bachelor's degree in design, human-computer interaction (HCI), or equivalent UX professional experience.
  • Proficiency in a variety of design software such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Fireworks, Dreamweaver, Axure/wireframe.

  • Ability to prototype in HTML, JavaScript, CSS, and/or Flash is strong plus.
  • Ability to create illustrations, skin UI, and edit images is a strong plus.
  • Demonstrated history of acquiring user data (e.g., conducting usability studies, performing user research) is a plus.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working in a collaborative team and working directly with developers for implementation of designs.
