Marketing Communications Coordinator
The Skin Cancer Foundation, based in NYC, is seeking a Marketing Communications Coordinator. In this hands-on position, you will be exposed to all aspects of marketing communications, with a special emphasis on media relations. Reporting to the Director of Marketing Communications, the Coordinator will support the Foundation’s mission to decrease the incidence of skin cancer through support of the organization’s media relations, advocacy, education program and event efforts. Responsibilities Include•Create and maintain targeted media lists •Track all media impressions and create media reports as directed•Write press releases and content for Foundation publications as assigned•Manage review process for community press releases •Monitor PR Twitter account; draft Facebook posts and Tweets as assigned•Monitor media outlets to identify pitch opportunities •Handle media inquiries as assigned, and proactively pitch when appropriate•Support press and logistical efforts surrounding Foundation events •Work with Manager to keep online press room and Members in the Media webpage current •Support Manager in maintaining fact sheet•Provide overall administrative support of MarComm department’s Director and Manager, including preparing for meetings, taking notes and producing recaps•Other duties and tasks as directedExperience, competencies, education:•Bachelors degree in Communications, PR or journalism •1 year of full-time, professional experience preferred •Excellent writing skills required•Comfort in Microsoft Office Suite required•Keen awareness of current events and how the media is covering them required•Familiarity with social media tools including Twitter and Facebook required•Familiarity with AP Style and Cision preferred•Interest in health and beauty topics essentialSalary requirements must be included in cover letter.
