Ms. Jenni Simcoe
You will work from home, not our offices.

First and foremost you need to have a great telephone personality, be outgoing, have the ability to think on your feet and move through the questions in a timely manner. As you know, journalists are busy and don't want to chat on the phone.

You must have experience in either public relations or working for a media outlet.

Must be available to contact media outlets by phone between the hours of 9am to 3pm EST with a minimum of 15 hours a week.

Must have excellent phone communication skills and possess a confident and efficient demeanor.

Must have a computer that has a current version of Microsoft Excel and an internet browser with a high-speed internet connection.

Must have an unlimited calling plan on your home office phone line or cell phone.

Must be self-motivated, a quick study and be able to work independently with little direction, while following directions and meeting high spelling and writing standards and conforming to the company style guide. (AP Style Guide knowledge is extremely helpful).

A working knowledge of magazines is helpful to understand how editorial departments operate and to know what editors are good picks for The Gift List.

Job Description:
In order for us to present the best possible data to our subscribers we must contact these media outlets by phone.

You will be assigned a group of media outlets to contact. We provide staff lists and phone numbers, but it is the job of the researcher to find the right editors and get them on the phone to ask them some important questions about their Holiday editorial focus.

The information you gather is typed into an online form.

This is an independent contractor (1099) position so you must be able to work legally in the U.S. and are responsible for your self-employment income taxes. Invoices are paid every two weeks.

Job Start Date:
July 8th

Please send resume by email. A long cover letter is not necessary however you MUST answer the following questions to be considered:
•Can you commit to the project that will run from July 5th through the end of August with the possibility of working through September/October?
•Are you available during the hours of 9am to 3pm EST?
•Tell us the three magazines you love to read and why.
•If you have vacations planned in July or August, what dates will you be unable to work?

We will be doing Skype/Facetime interviews on July 1-3. Please provide your phone number, email address and Skype or FaceTime handle. Due to the high volume of responses, please do not follow-up. We will get back to you as quickly as possible if we are interested in setting up an interview. Thank you.
