North American Publishing Company (NAPCO), a thriving Center City Philadelphia media company ( is seeking candidates for the full-time, on-site position of Senior Editor for two of its editorial brands: Book Business and Publishing Executive magazines. The Senior Editor will manage day-to-day production of these magazines for both print and digital editions, writing, assigning and editing stories, managing production cycles, and meeting deadlines consistently. The Senior Editor will work with the Editorial Director to plan the editorial calendar, and will be required to be knowledgeable about industry news and trends, and to maintain a strong and active network of contacts within the industry.

The Senior Editor is involved across all elements of the Publishing Business Group brand, also including the daily e-newsletter, website, annual conference, webinars, blogs and social media, etc. The candidate will have an active role in planning the annual Publishing Business Conference & Expo. This will involve creating sessions, locating speakers, developing session formats and content, speaker interface, and assisting at the show itself, including introducing sessions and facilitating speaker logistics.

The ideal candidate has a background in b-to-b writing, copyediting and proofreading; strong organizational and time-management skills; and an easy grasp of internal systems used in the production and deployment of print and online products. He or she also is comfortable with public speaking, as well as meeting readers, working with the Editorial Advisory Board members and generally acting as a face for the publication in the industry.

This is a hands-on interviewing, writing, editing and production position for both print and online formats. The senior editor is expected to work closely with the Editorial Director in long-term planning and audience development for the brand, as well, and must be willing and able to immerse him/herself in the specific industry the brand covers.
