We are seeking a Studio Group Lead to join our Los Angeles team and work on an automotive client.The role of a Studio Group Lead involves supervising, training and mentoring layout and production artists in the studio, working on and also delegating projects to the Studio based on personnel's strengths and skills, setting priorities to meet deadlines, troubleshooting, upgrading workflow structure, reviewing daily work schedules and ensuring work is delivered before deadlines while keeping all departments informed about project status.This person will be responsible for directing and developing mechanical files accurately and efficiently for print, out-of-home, collateral and some digital projects. As well as, assisting Art Directors on Comps for client presentations. Ideal candidate will be a creative problem-solver able to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment. This position will collaborate with many other functional groups within the agency in Los Angeles and will report to the Studio Director in the agency's Boston office.This person must have advertising agency experience and be highly-proficient in the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator) used in the process of creating comps and production mechanicals. They must be able to advise and assist all in the studio on production/mechanical building issues. They must be a leader in exploring new ways to do things to improve studio operations and advance the technology of the studio. This person must work well with the leaders in print production, art direction and project management—it will be a highly-collaborative position.Job Functions:● Ensures that all studio work produced is technically correct resulting in high-quality, printer-ready files while remaining on-time and within budget.● Supervise and assist in the creation of all comps and mechanicals for assigned clients.● Track all miscellaneous studio requests.● Generate estimates and act as a cost consultant with regards to studio work.● Mentor/lead layout and production artists and freelancers.● Schedule daily studio workload and manage work changes.● Work with project management/production/art direction staff to accomplish studio work.● Provide design and new business support as needed.● Work with art directors and assist in finalizing materials and comps for client presentations.● Review studio/production time schedules.● Contact, hire, train and supervise new studio hires and freelancers.● Maintain agency archiving and filing systems.● Track and maintain supply inventories for studio.● Remain current on industry trends and technology.● Assist and sometimes perform employee reviews.● Develop and see through team building/promotion ideas.

Required Skills: ●Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in advertising, marketing, sales, business or any similar field and at least 7 years experience working as a production artist (or similar) in an advertising/marketing agency. ● Advanced knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite (especially InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator). Knowledge of video and digital app programs is helpful.● Very good verbal and written communication skills, excellent organizational skills, proven leadership skills and ability to meet deadlines under stressful environments and motivate a team with a wide range of skills. He/she must also be able to think outside the box, meticulous attention to detail and possess problem-solving skills. ● Familiarity with Xinet or other digital asset management systems.● Studio cost consultancy ability not a necessity, but nice to have.You must be eligible to work in the United States to be considered for this role.Mullen is an eoe encouraging diversity in the workplace.
