The National School Boards Association (NSBA) seeks an Associate Executive Director to lead the NSBA strategic public policy and communications function. This individual will have primary responsibility for developing and implementing the organization’s strategic communications efforts to advance Legislative, Legal, and Public Advocacy agendas. The selected candidate will work closely with other members of the organization’s senior leadership team to develop messaging for the organization’s internal stakeholders, leading NSBA’s media and public relations, publications, marketing, and online/digital efforts.

Minimum qualifications include: A bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, marketing or a related field; substantial in-depth professional experience in corporate or association communications; expert public relations and media relations strategies with a well-established network of contacts in the Washington D.C. area and public policy arena; executive bearing and ability to engage national law and policy makers, leaders and audiences in a credible, professional manner; demonstrated competence in developing and implementing strategic communications plans that advance organizational policy goals; excellent writing and message development skills, as well as, strong oral and presentation skills; demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a senior leadership team to advance organizational goals and to manage teams of people. Advanced degree in education, public policy, or related field preferred.
