The Account Director is a detail-oriented, highly organized individual who leads a platform agnostic (print, digital, mobile, etc.) sales effort tasked with meeting revenue goals by delivering advertising solutions to major agencies/clients on a national DR scale. Candidate will have prior sales experience, strong presentation skills and industry contacts. The Account Director must be able to professionally, effectively and accurately represent Gannett Community Publications as well as USA TODAY in the marketplace, facilitating brand strength and credibility. Essential functions of the job include strong networking abilities, strong negotiation skills, ability to analyze data quickly, and strong strategic ideas.

The objective of this position is to establish a national DR funnel for the Community publications that will maximize sales opportunity and optimize open inventory. The successful candidate will be analytically strong and have the ability to demonstrate which opportunities have positive value for Gannett.


Minimum of bachelors degree with a concentration in marketing and/or advertising
Minimum 3 years of advertising sales experience with a proven track record as an outside sales representative (with an ability to showcase revenue success)
Strong analytical skills
Working knowledge of
Strong organizational skills including the ability to facilitate and lead productive meetings with internal staff and clients
Strong knowledge of the sales process
Ability to work in a fast paced/deadline driven environment
Strong multi-tasking capabilities
Solid integrity and strong business ethics


Position reports to VP, Sales Strategy and Operations.
