The Digital/Mobile Account Director, USA TODAY Sales will have sole responsibility for generating sales revenue from Gannett’s various mobile and digital platforms and properties including its network of 100+ mobile sites and leading applications such as USA TODAY for iPhone and Android. The Digital/Mobile Account Director will report to the Midwest Director Sales, Digital Adverstising and will partner closely with the Mobile team and print and online advertising sales teams across the company to generate new business. The successful candidate will have strong knowledge and insights of mobile and digital advertising, established direct sales relationships with leading advertisers and digital and mobile advertising agencies. This position requires comprehensive experience with digital sales. Mobile sales experience is also strongly preferred. The position is based in Chicago, with a territory that includes Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, South and North Dakota.



Responsibilities include:

Generate advertising revenue from Gannett’s mobile and digital products and services. Champion product offerings (including mobile, web, applications, and integrations) to the rapidly growing online and mobile sales marketplaces. Create new opportunities to gain revenue through sales, sponsorships, business partnerships and other non-standard sales tactics.
Develop senior relationships with agencies and clients and provide feedback from marketers and agencies that allow Gannett to build and enhance our value proposition as a media vehicle.
Inform and educate colleagues around the company about the latest innovative and emerging ideas in mobile media and mobile advertising.
Participate in sales activities requiring a high-level presence with leading advertisers and agencies. Regularly and consistently meet and exceed sales revenue goals
Training and Development – work cross functionally with Mobile Strategy and Operations team and other company units to stay abreast of developing technologies and platforms in mobile space.


Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in related field required.
Comprehensive knowledge of advertising media sales including 5+ years of sales experience; Digital experience required and Mobile experience strongly preferred.
Proven experience in successfully building and growing advertising sales revenue, ideally in senior sales or business development roles
Highly entrepreneurial, self-sufficient and able to work independently to successfully grow and foster long term internal and client relationships based on quality service, strategic impact and driving for client results
Product champion for Gannett internally and within the broader industry; educating and convincing clients about the benefits of mobile advertising as a new media
Familiarity, relationships and proven connectivity with advertisers and leading digital/mobile agencies.
Team player with a positive and dynamic personality, excellent communication and presentation skills, strong planning and organizational capabilities
Operational focus – get things done – and result driven
Must be proficient with PC, word processing, spreadsheets and online research. Should have a superior grasp of electronic and mobile media (browser, native applications, text messaging) and an understanding of the Internet and competitive ad environment.
Must be able to communicate clearly and concisely and to develop programs that meet advertising needs of clients. Must be able to advise Gannett Digital management on industry business trends.
Frequent and intensive travel is required. Learning and continuing education are job expectations.
