•Develop and implement a strategic plan for the communications of NAA and API
•Develop strong relationships with the communications department of member organizations
•Foster a continuous, positive and interactive relationship with consumer and trade media on a national and local level across print, online and broadcast outlets
•Provide immediate response to media requests for information and interviews with NAA experts. Track these interactions and produce annual report on media interactions
•Write and distribute press releases on NAA and NAA Foundation conferences, events, awards and other programs and activities
•Track and report on news coverage of NAA and the industry, maintain media log and post news clips
•Develop and execute ideas for news and feature articles and interviews; identify media opportunities; secure media placement
•Work with other departments to coordinate, write and disseminate NAA’s weekly electronic member newsletters
•Write and edit content for NAA’s website
•Secure press attendance and mange press room at mediaXchange
•Coordinate with external consultants and internal staff on communication needs

•Applicant must have 5-8 years of strategic communications experience
•Some travel exists
•Must have outstanding leadership, communications, interpersonal and customer service skills. They must be a self motivator and innovator to help move the mission of NAA and the industry
•Strong knowledge of communications strategies, media relations and ability to judge news worthiness of NAA projects and programs
•Knowledge of newspaper industry
•Strategic thinker; excellent writing, grammar; strong interpersonal skills; verbal skills; ability to make quick decisions; juggle multiple projects; meet deadlines; perform computer operations
•Must be comfortable in a fast-paced work environment with a clear sense of urgency
•Proficient on Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
