Real Weddings Editor, Brides


BRIDES is looking for an editor to manage all of our Real Weddings coverage for both print and digital. (S)he should be energetic and driven to excellence, love weddings and all their trappings, and have a strong editorial and visual sense.

Primary Responsibilities

     Assign and edit (or write) all Real Weddings stories for BRIDES magazine and on

     Wrangle weddings to feature in BRIDES and on BRIDES.COM. Review submissions from photographers, planners, and other industry professionals, and actively seek great, current weddings by cultivating industry contacts, and reviewing blogs and other magazines for vendor ideas, word-of-mouth, etc.

     Pitch weddings to senior staff for coverage.

     Manage acquisition of photos and negotiate exclusivity for them.

     Liaise with market editors for Real Weddings merch pages.

     Make initial photo edit on weddings selected for online coverage, and write slideshows.

     Blog, tweet, post, etc. as needed.

     Also potential to pitch, write and edit for other sections, as time allows.


Ideal candidate will be a talented, mid-level editor who is as passionate about words and beautiful images as (s)he is about weddings. (S)he’ll have assigned and edited stellar content for a major magazine or website, and (s)he’ll have familiarity with the wedding biz, know who’s who in the biz, and be excited to further develop industry contacts and talk to young couples about the details of the best day of their lives so far.
