This position will report to the VP of Marketing and Communications and work closely with the head of marketing as well as senior leaders across the firm to enhance the firm's visibility with core commercial audiences as well as within the policy community. The primary responsibilities of this position include: 1) Leading Avalere's social media strategy; 2) Writing for Avalere's website as well as other traditional and digital publications on behalf of Avalere; 3) Providing copy review and editorial support to Avalere subject matter experts on Avalere and client branded work; 4) Coordinating PR and media efforts with Avalere's agency of record; 5) Running analytics to measure effectiveness of tactics; and 6) Ensuring effective internal communications.

Specifically the duties of the Director, Social Media and Communications will include:

*Create and ensure effective execution of Avalere's social media strategy
*In partnership with marketing team and content experts, write copy for website, email blasts, marketing collateral, and other branded materials
*Work with Avalere content leaders to help clearly communicate their research and expertise on Avalere's website and social media channels used by external audiences
*Produce tweets, blogs, press releases, etc. about our healthcare research and analysis
*Proactively advise and execute on tactics to increase visibility of Avalere
*Monitor outreach and engagement metrics in traditional and digital media
*Ensure that Avalere's work products for web and other wide public consumption comply with the Avalere brand voice guidelines; maintain and update guidelines as needed
*Manage external PR agency
*Manage our internal communications, including content for our intranet

The successful candidate must demonstrate the following skills/attributes:

*Strong current knowledge of healthcare business, policy, and reform
*Experience with leveraging social media to distribute content and increase visibility in B to B settings
*Superb writing and editing skills across multiple channels (e.g., social media, web, long-form reports)
*Experience with Twitter, LinkedIn and Google+
*Familiarity with social media analytic software (e.g. Radian6)
*A demonstrated ability to multi-task and work collaboratively with a range of experts
*Strong process orientation and time management skills
*Ability to work independently as well as in cross functional team environment
*Between 5-10 years of experience in communications
*Familiarity with media relations
*Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, public policy, marketing, or related field or equivalent experience
*Enthusiasm and energy for handling complex content for sophisticated audiences
