Full Time

The Wall Street Journal is looking for an experienced, versatile journalist to join the Texas Bureau as deputy chief in Houston, focusing on energy coverage. We are seeking someone with editing experience and a passion for real-time journalism and breaking news. We define energy coverage broadly; the ideal candidate would be able to take apart a corporate balance sheet but also to chronicle and explain the huge changes sweeping the energy industry – and the country. Currently structured for a player/manager, the post will suit someone who is able to direct coverage of hurricanes and refinery explosions as well as company earnings and proxy battles. A knack for teamwork is also important, as the deputy chief will work closely with seven reporters spread from Houston to San Francisco and will need to coordinate with and collaborate with colleagues in bureaus around the world.
