- Execute all events with assistance from events and editorial staff. Duties include: venue selection, content and programming development, coordinating pricing, creating effective collateral across internal and partner marketing channels, assisting sales staff, managing budgets and overseeing general logistics
- Manage and direct Events Coordinator; Collaborate with Brooklyn Community Manager
- This position reports to Business Development lead, with opportunities to grow in responsiblity and autonomy
- Oversee annual Philly Tech Week, Baltimore Innovation Week and forthcoming Brooklyn events planning efforts, managing annual timeline and ensuring overall planning and execution
- Work with leadership to identify, develop and execute new local and national events that strengthen the portfolio
-Help strengthen strategy and execution of monthly event series in Philadelphia, Baltimore and Brooklyn to better coordinate programming and sales within and across markets
- Effectively liaise with venue, speakers and sponsors to communicate the information necessary to successfully execute event needs
- Research and recommend organizations to align with in relevant markets
- Create partnerships with and attend community events to advertise and support business relationships
- Keep tabs on programming in existing markets and across the national and international technology industry to better position our strategy and execution


Position is ideal for someone who has an interest in conference and events planning, publishing, and technology issues in Philadelphia, Baltimore, Brooklyn and along the Northeast Corridor.

Candidates should likely possess the following qualifications:

- 3-5 years of events experience, preferably within the publishing industry
- Comfort in the language and culture of business strategy, particularly one rooted in online publishing and technology conference/events
- Long-term strategic planner; results-driven, superior cross-group collaboration, communication skills and organizational agility
- Ability to interact successfully with individuals at all levels of an organization and with external clients, including partners, sponsors and attendees
- Experience with creating and managing relationships with as well as negotiating with venues, speakers, sponsors and partners
- Comfort in working with various partners to identify and execute balance of expectations, priorities and opportunities that, ultimately, encourage collaboration
- Interest in representing as a supporting emcee at events
- Excitement by the idea of a media startup, which comes with great flexibility and impact, along with fast-moving change and high, competitive expectations
- Knowledge of and interest in local and national technology issues is preferred but not required
- Knowledge of and interest in sustainable business models for news organizations is preferred but not required
- An understanding of online content management systems, comparable blog software, and social media applications is required
- Expertise with online communications tools, social networking tools, MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint is required
- An understanding of online customer relationship management tools is preferred but not required
- A Bachelor’s degree in fundraising, marketing, business or related field is preferred but not required


- This is for a full-time, salaried position with
- Work regularly out of Philadelphia-based office in University City
- Must be available evenings and weekends as required for events and other activities, though other hours are flexible. We celebrate work-life balance
