Amazon is seeking an exceptionally bright, multitasking and self-motivated individual to support the Vice President and the New York Amazon Publishing team and other team members. This exciting role has two key components: Administrative and Editorial. The Administrative aspect requires superior attention to detail, the ability to meet tight deadlines, great organizational skills, and the ability to juggle multiple critical requests. The Editorial element is a passion for commercial books and experience or interest in reading manuscripts and helping to manage the publishing process primarily into digital form.

A high level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information and professionalism in dealing with senior professionals inside and outside the company is important, as is a good sense of humor. The successful candidate will possess the ability to complete complex tasks and projects quickly with little to no guidance, react with appropriate urgency to situations that require a quick turnaround, and take effective action without having to know the total picture.

Responsibilities for this position include the ability to serve as an administrative leader as well as an effective and efficient editorial assistant; to think and plan ahead, delegate responsibilities appropriately, and manage time effectively.

Key attributes and responsibilities include:
  • Working for senior executive in finding and developing editorial projects, primarily in popular commercial categories
  • Experience in handling the administrative details of bringing a book from inception to publication
