The Role:This summer/fall, we're relaunching our blog, The Date Report. We're expanding into new verticals, creating smarter, richer, more beautiful content, and bringing on new partners. Much like our first book was "the dating book for people who don't read dating books," we want to be a content destination for people who don't read dating websites. Our areas of coverage are broad and include food, nightlife, music, movies, TV, books, fashion, beauty, politics, and technology/social media, as they relate to dating/relationships.As our Staff Writer, you will be integral to the success of this relaunch. You'll report to our Editor in Chief, pitching timely stories (and receiving assignments) daily. You'll also pitch stories to/receive assignments from our features editor.Your goal is to create smart, inspired content that supports the HowAboutWe brand while still being real. You’ll be extremely tuned in to the news cycle, and you’ll be responsible for creating content that-positions The Date Report as a content destination-drives social, newsletter, and search traffic-supports our editorial partnerships with sites such as The Huffington Post, Yahoo! Shine, Glamour, and The Daily Meal.Your Skills and Qualifications:You're a superb writer. You're not afraid to express strong opinions around topics related to dating and relationships, and you're able to articulate them well. Smart, reasonable people generally relate to what you're saying (aka, we're not out for trolling). You don't need to write about the date you went on last night or the fight you had with your girlfriend (if you don't want to), but you do need to have a ton of ideas to pitch on an ongoing basis, mining from conversations you overheard, a book/article/post you read, a text your mother sent, a tweet you saw, existential questions that have been gnawing at you, what have you. You’re ready for a huge challenge at a small but quickly growing company. You’re able to internalize the HowAboutWe mission and you’re excited to work for a brand that’s creating content in a transparent and unexpectedly awesome way.Benefits:-Competitive Salaries and Stock Options — We pay highly competitive salaries in addition to significant stock options.-Continued Learning — We'll pay for team members to attend conferences and get coaching to continue learning their craft-Health Insurance, Vision, and Dental — Exceptional Health Benefits.-Ten Paid Holidays — Our office closes for all standard paid holidays.-Fifteen PTO Days — We encourage all team members to take vacation and recharge.-Food & Drink — Stocked fridge, some team meals, etc. This position is for full-time employment on-site in our office in DUMBO.
