Duties and Responsibilities:

Account Management

Maintain a deep understanding of existing MVPD priorities and business goals and determine how Al Jazeera America can assist in achieving these objectives
Develop and deliver meaningful, persuasive network presentations that demonstrate value to assigned clients
Create quarterly account management strategies targeted at mid-level corporate leads, with a focus on how to secure promotional support (ideally in form of local cross channel) behind Al Jazeera America’s initiatives
Cultivate strong knowledge of all industry multi-platform products (VOD, TV-E, Mobile) in order to launch content and sell in national multi-platform promotional opportunities
Provide input to help shape the department’s overall multi-platform strategy
Work closely with Affiliate Marketing, collaborating on ideation and successful implementation of national marketing efforts (examples include: national sponsorships, events, contests, etc.); Leverage Consumer Marketing efforts on existing MVPD platforms to help secure value-add wins for the network
Identify relevant corporate leads for Local Ad Sales insertion and drive programs at the national level to build value for Al Jazeera America by increasing the insertion base
Conduct on-going outreach to clients via email, phone and in person; stay top of mind, cultivate key relationships and regularly track any relevant org changes
Help to populate and manage an affiliate contact database and system of tracking reports that measure sales activity, new launches, migrations and monitor the sell-in of affiliate marketing campaigns
Gather competitive intelligence, current marketplace information (such as pricing, packaging, penetration, positioning and roll out strategies). Spot trends, track and analyze all relevant info and technological changes that affect the business
Maintain a high industry profile by participating in industry trade organizations and functions to increase the company’s exposure & carriage potential


Seven to ten years account management experience in the media/entertainment industry
Extensive, favorable relationships with Cable, Satellite and/or Telco operators
Proven track record of relationship management and key client accountability
Past experience selling in and executing on national marketing and promotional tactics
Strategic thinker who is also detail-oriented; creative problem solver
Excellent sales and presentation skills
College degree required, MBA a plus
Minimum of 30% travel required
