Founded in 1898, and affiliated with what is now New York-Presbyterian Hospital since 1927, Weill Cornell Medical College is among the top-ranked clinical and medical research centers in the country. In addition to offering degrees in medicine, Cornell also has Ph.D. programs in biomedical research and education at the Weill Graduate School of Medical Sciences, and with neighboring Rockefeller University and the Sloan-Kettering Institute, has established a joint MD-PhD. program for students to intensify their pursuit of Cornell's triple mission of education, research, and patient care.

Weill Cornell Medical College seeks a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual, under general direction to respond to media inquiries and develops and coordinates with newspaper and television reporters, film crews, journalists, photographers, producers, and media in general to organize interviews and media projects at WCMC. Participate in the management of WCMC's response to emergency situations and sensitive issues. Assist in the development of crisis communications strategies. Coordinate press conferences, press briefings, special projects, and events. Creates strategic media plans that support institutional priorities and pitches story ideas to local, national, and international media. Meets and maintains contact with WCMC faculty, physicians, administration, and staff to provide guidance, generate stories, and coordinate media relations projects that will promote the institution's reputation and mission -- locally, nationally, and internationally. Accompany TV film crews, photographers, and other media to and from interviews and photo sessions to help ensure that the policies and procedures of WCMC are maintained and that the institution's interests are represented. Write press releases and media alerts, and other materials aimed at promoting WCMC. Supervise support staff, temps, interns, freelancers, as needed.

Minimum Requirements:
College degree in English, journalism, communications, or related field.
Minimum of 2 years related experience in a PR agency or broadcast news setting.
