Brilliance Publishing (part of the group of companies) is looking for a driven and results-oriented Managing Editor to facilitate the publication of print and e-books for our imprints. As the Managing Editor, you will help achieve the goals and objectives of the imprints by managing titles through their life cycle. You will have the opportunity to internally work with Production, Design, Sales, Marketing, and Publicity teams to ensure optimal communication and an efficient book publishing workflow. Externally, you will work with content providers, freelance talent, vendors, and other industry professionals to assure smooth production and, most importantly, the best customer experience for our authors, content providers, and readers.

The right candidate will have a passion for literature and technology. As our content is inspirational and faith-based, a solid understanding and appreciation of these genres will play into your success.

This position is best suited for someone who enjoys variety of work and the necessity of multi-tasking and prioritizing that comes with multiple projects. Your work environment would be described as “start-up”, casual, fast-paced, and fun.

Core Job Responsibilities

•Work with authors, agents, vendors, or other parties to secure documents and facilitate titles through the production life cycle using internal or freelance/contract services.
•Maintain and update all publishing schedules on an ongoing basis. Serve as key liaison among production, editorial, and design, contacts and freelancers to ensure titles stay on schedule and meet milestones.
•Oversee creation of title fact sheets, sales tools, and metadata.
•Become a subject matter expert on our processes in order to understand how we can streamline and improve.
•Work with inventory leads, vendor managers, publicity, and marketing to guarantee that sales and marketing materials and final books are available as required to maximize sales.
•Lead proactive efforts that result in author happiness and a great author experience.

Basic Qualifications:
•BA/BS required
•3+ years’ experience in the publishing industry
•High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office

Preferred Qualifications:
•MBA/MS/MA preferred
•Strong analytical skills with excellent problem solving abilities
•Superior verbal and written communications skills
•History of teamwork and willingness to roll up one’s sleeves to get the job done
•Composed, poised, and professional demeanor
•Demonstrated knowledge of faith-based and inspirational product lines
•Experience with copyediting and proofing or experience managing vendor/freelance publishing services
