The Opportunity:

Move, Inc’s Senior Writer/ Editor will be responsible for writing and editing original articles to help consumers make smart decisions while buying, selling, renting, financing and moving a home. He/she will help manage the blog editorial calendar and work with freelancers, a weekly columnist, and partner content. The Senior Writer needs to have strong organizational and people skills, and able to maintain high-quality work while meeting tight deadlines. This role sits within Marketing will report to the Managing Editor. Candidates can work out of our offices in San Jose, CA or Westlake Village, CA.

We source this content through our relationships with approximately 900 Multiple Listing Services, or MLSs, across the U.S. Through our realtor.com® Web site, consumers have access to over 100 million properties and the site attracts more than 20 million unique users a month, according to independent data.


Duties and Responsibilities:

*Write advice articles to help consumers make smart decisions while buying, selling, renting, financing and moving a home.
*Write real estate news and trend stories, such as monthly real estate trends report and enterprise story ideas.
*Identify strong story ideas and help manage blog editorial calendar
*Help manage freelancers and work with weekly Advice columnist
*Help recruit and manage freelancers, work with weekly columnist
*Edit/publish articles using WordPress CMS
*Work with content partners
*Support marketing efforts
*Submit articles for syndication

Education, Skills and Experience:
*Professional writing experience with real estate topics – writing samples are required
*5+ years in writing/editing for online media, ideally at a large consumer site
*Headline, copy editing, photo editing and assignment experience
*Experience managing freelancers/staff writers
*Strong people skills and a tactful approach when dealing with authors
*Ability to maintain high-quality work while meeting tight deadlines
*Familiarity with WordPress CMS is preferred
*Basic understanding of SEO for editorial content is a plus
*Editorial background within traditional business media an added plus
*B.A. in journalism or related field
