JOB PURPOSE: To create, develop, produce, and upload multimedia content to our digital/web platforms.

• Develop original content and reporting for WTTW’s nightly news and public affairs show Chicago Tonight, including but not limited to news stories, interactive features, and analysis utilizing a mix of traditional and new media storytelling elements including video, text, still photography, slideshows, and more.
• Research, report and fact check all content.
• Upload content and make changes and updates to website under direction of the WTTW Web/Interactive staff and the Chicago Tonight production staff.
• Assist with all elements of page and site launches and quality assurance including production of new features.
• Maintain design of WTTW websites including navigational rules, organization of information, style sheets, etc.
• Help evaluate effectiveness of current web presence, interpret site-use statistics, research improvements and alternatives, and implement innovations.
• Identify, recommend and implement current and emerging interactive content elements.
• Utilize new promotional strategies with a focus on social media platforms, content sharing and distribution methods with the goal of growing and targeting audience.
• Help assign and oversee work of related support and intern staff.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree. Master’s Degree preferred.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 2 years experience in producing or interactive media.

SKILLS REQUIRED: Candidate must have demonstrated experience in online/digital content creation and storytelling with a strong interest in news and public affairs content. Interest in television production desired. Solid experience researching, fact-checking, and reporting is a must, along with an understanding of effective, user-focused interactive presentation. An understanding of journalistic ethics and procedure is critical. Candidate must also be highly organized, be able to prioritize conflicting demands, and work well under deadline pressure. Newsroom software experience is a plus. Knowledge of HTML and Photoshop and experience with open source content management systems are also desired.
