Director of Sales - Plastics News

Plastics News, the leading information source and marketing vehicle for the plastics industry, is seeking a creative and strategic thinker for our Director of Sales. Our sales director will lead a strong and successful team of account executives serving business-to-business advertisers with a mix of print ads, digital placements, video, lead generation, custom content and event sponsorships designed to build brand presence among our audience of plastics industry executives in the U.S., Europe and China. Job Responsibilities:
•Responsibility for revenue generating products such as print, online, data products, event exhibits and sponsorships, mobile, custom, lead generation, etc.
•Operational responsibility for a 7-person sales department
•Motivate, manage and collaborate with sales team members
•Drive strategic development and growth for sales team
•Collaborate with marketing department to develop sales tools to best equip the sales team
•Provide direction and strategic vision that strengthens brand messaging and align with business goals and objectives
•Develop sales goals, objectives and strategies; actively contribute on-going input for new revenue generating products and programs
•Active engagement in entire sales process: sales calls, brainstorming, proposal development, etc.
•P&L responsibility and provide analysis of sales, pricing, promotional expenses, and product development costs
•Key member of the Plastics News’ leadership team
•Position reports into Publisher
•Excellent listener
•Successful sales management experience contributing to the significant growth of a business is essential; b-to-b brand experience preferred
•Requires a hands-on, lead-by-example sales manager with excellent communication and organizational skills
•Proven track record of sales & marketing success with integrated media packages, minimum 7-10 years’ experience
•Minimum of five years in sales management/leadership role
•Proven success in selling exhibits and sponsorships for live, multi-day events a plus
•Must be collaborative and open minded
•Must be able to multi-task
•Must be able to travel extensively, including internationally when needed
•Passion for media and helping customers
•Works easily across departments and actively seeks new ideas
•Solid knowledge of emerging new media strategies
•Bachelor’s degree or higher
